Facing a schedule ravaged by recent winter weather, the Intermountain Conference is canceling the second half of the boys and girls basketball league schedule and will stage tournaments to conclude the season and determine which teams will represent the IMC in the Class 5A state playoffs.

In an email Friday afternoon, Crook County High athletic director Rob Bonner said the league tournaments will begin on Thursday and will include games at multiple sites next Saturday, on Feb. 25 and on Feb. 26. No additional details were announced.

Three boys teams and three girls teams from the IMC advance to the postseason.

The OSAA cutoff date for 5A basketball is Feb. 27, and playoff brackets are to be posted by Feb. 28. The first round of the 5A state playoffs is set for March 1 for the boys and March 2 for the girls.

The rash of postponements and cancellations plaguing the IMC included all six games scheduled for Friday night: Hood River Valley at Crook County, Pendleton at Redmond and Ridgeview at The Dalles on the boys side; Crook County at Hood River Valley, Redmond at Pendleton and The Dalles at Ridgeview on the girls side.

Bonner said Crook County’s games with Hood River Valley have been rescheduled for Monday, the boys in Prineville (4:30 p.m. varsity) and the girls in Hood River (3 p.m. varsity).
