Turning up the intensity on defense, Summit defeated Mountain View 57-50 Friday night in a Mountain Valley Conference girls basketball game.
Leading just 38-37 entering the fourth quarter, the Storm outscored the Cougars 19-13 in the final eight minutes.
“We just emphasized defense and the kids responded really well,” Summit coach Lynnette Landis said. “It was really a team effort defensively.”
Senior Olivia Treu scored 20 points to lead the Storm (1-1 MVC, 6-6 overall), and sophomore Healy Bledsoe added 19 points.
Bailey Dickerson had 22 points for the Cougars (0-2, 6-6), and Mia Morey finished with 14 points.
“We just had a couple of great practices this week and brought our focus back,” Landis said. “The kids just responded really, really well to what we gave them in practice. Complete team effort.”
