THE DALLES — Bend made 8 of 8 free throws in the final 90 seconds and turned back The Dalles 66-61 in a nonconference boys basketball game Friday night.

Brian Warinner scored 19 points to lead the Lava Bears, who broke a two-game slide with the road win and improved to 6-2.

Bend led 20-11 after one quarter, but The Dalles closed it to 32-30 at halftime. The Riverhawks took the lead in the fourth period and were looking to notch their fourth straight win before the Bears took over in the late going.

“We got some stops and some nice buckets,” said Bend coach Scott Baker, “and we put them in a position where they had to foul.”
