May 7-July 30: Ladies Academy for Beginners at Juniper. A program designed specifically for women who are new to golf, the academy will cover all aspects of the game and will include beverages and new outfits. Meeting every Monday, Level 1 will go from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Level 2 will follow, from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cost for Package 1 (which includes new golf shoes, a dozen balls, a golf shirt, a glove and a hat) is $229 per player, Package 2 (Package 1 plus clubs) is $399 per player, and Level 2 (which includes 12 lessons and a choice of merchandise from the golf shop) is $350 per player. Black Butte’s newest golf school, this two-day instructional includes 10 hours of teaching (four indoor, six outdoor), as well as a workbook, journal, putting board and alignment aids. The school also includes audio tapes, hypnosis, golf tapes and how-to-practice videos. The first day runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the second day goes from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $495. May 26-Aug. 19: Black Butte Ranch’s 100 Yards In golf clinic aims to improve the fundamentals of pitching, chipping, putting, sand play and full swing up to 100 yards out. PGA Junior League Golf: Designed to bring a team sport atmosphere to golf, teams are composed of boys and girls age 14 and under. Players are offered six regular-season competitions on Saturday afternoons through June 16. Advanced skills are not required, but players must have their own clubs. Cost is $149 per player.
