EUGENE — Oregon’s record-setting receiver is leaving for the NFL.

Dillon Mitchell, who broke the Oregon program record for receiving yards in a season during Monday’s Redbox Bowl, announced Wednesday he is entering the 2019 NFL draft.

Mitchell, who came to the Ducks from White Station High School in Memphis, Tennessee, broke the Oregon record for receiving yards in a season on a 9-yard catch during the fourth quarter of Monday’s bowl game and later added the deciding 28-yard touchdown catch as Oregon held on for a 7-6 win over Michigan State at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The Pac-12 leader in receiving yards this season, Mitchell had 75 receptions for 1,184 yards, 13th nationally, and 10 touchdowns.

No early NFL draft projections list Mitchell among players projected to go in the first three rounds. Mitchell had said Justin Herbert’s decision would affect his own, but the prospect of returning for another year with a top quarterback leading an offense with 10 other starters returning was not enough to entice him to stay.

With Mitchell leaving, Oregon’s leading returning receiver is Jaylon Redd, who had 38 receptions for 433 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore this season.
