Bend Hoops introduces adult leagues — Bend Hoops will host adult basketball leagues this fall, with games starting Wednesday. Teams can choose to play on Mondays, Wednesdays or Sundays. There will be an open and a masters division. The season will include eight games, followed by playoffs. BPRD league registration closes Oct. 16 — Registration for the Bend Park & Recreation District adult leagues closes Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. Teams of five or more can sign up for the women’s league or men’s league at www.bendparksandrec.org or at the district office at 799 SW Columbia St. Registration costs $695 per team. Bend Rapids to host tryouts — Bend Rapids ice hockey will be hosting try outs for their youth teams starting Nov. 1. The organization plans to field two teams each in the 10U, 12U and 14U age groups as well as one 8U and one high school team. The “A” teams in multi-team age divisions will travel to tournaments throughout the Northwest while “B” teams will compete against other Oregon teams. The pre-tryout skate will be held Nov. 1, with sixth through 12th graders skating from 6 to 7 a.m. at The Pavilion and kindergarten through fifth graders following from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. Formal tryouts will start the next day. The 10U players will meet from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 3 and 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 5. The 12U age group will tryout from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 2 and 4 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 4. The 14U players will meet at 8 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 2 and 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 4. High schoolers will try out from 6 to 7 a.m. on Nov. 3 and 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 5. COCC wins opener — Central Oregon Community College won its first match of the fall season with a 70-26 victory over Southern Oregon in Ashland on Saturday. COCC was led by Dalton Chambers and Bobcats freshman Jay Byers earned “man of the match” honors from his teammates and opponents. COCC will host the University of Puget Sound at Mazama Field at 1 p.m. Saturday and then come back Sunday for an 11 a.m. kickoff against Seattle University.
BEA to host open house — Bend Endurance Academy will host an open house at its new facility at 442 NE 3rd St. from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2. CORK XC series starts Tuesday — Central Oregon Running Klub will host a series of cross-country races at Rivers Edge Golf Course in Bend on Tuesday, Oct. 17 and 24. The length of each race will be between 5K and 8K. Race instructions will start at 5:55 p.m. and the races will begin at 6 p.m. Registration will be held on site on the day of the race starting at 5 p.m. Entry for each race costs $5 for CORK members and $10 for non-members. Lord’s Acre Run set for Nov. 4 — The 14th annual Lord’s Acre 5K and 10K Run/Walk will be held Nov. 4 in Powell Butte. Both courses start at Powell Butte Christian Church at 9 a.m. The kid-friendly 5K is held on an out-and-back course, and the 10K course is a loop.
