YAKIMA, Wash. — After falling behind 6-0, the Elks stormed back by scoring seven unanswered runs to take a 7-6 lead. However, a three-run Yakima Valley rally in the bottom of the eighth inning spelled doom for Bend.

With a seventh consecutive defeat, the Elks fell to 2-7 in the second half of the season.

Bend’s Dayton Provost went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Jake Jarvis, Efry Cervantes and Jack Johnson also had two hits apiece.

The two pitching staffs combined for 19 walks and surrendered a total of 19 hits. Bend pitchers accounted for 12 of those walks.

Pippins pitcher Kyle Dean picked up his first win of the summer with 11⁄3 innings of scoreless relief.
