Walla Walla at Bend

When: 6:35 p.m. Thursday

Bend won a second consecutive game for the first time in 10 days Wednesday night, rallying for the tiebreaking run in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 2-1 West Coast League victory over Walla Walla at Vince Genna Stadium.

Zach Needham’s two-out single in the eighth brought home Nelson Padilla to snap a 1-1 tie. Elks closer Coen Wynne retired the Sweets in order in the ninth for his second save in as many nights and fifth of the season.

Bend has won the first two games of the three-game series against the WCL South Division-leading Sweets (12-5). The Elks (8-9) are in fourth place in the WCL South.

Padilla had two hits for Bend, as did Bend High graduate Justin Parsons, who scored the Elks’ first run in the second inning on Efry Cervantes’ double.
