The third time was a charm for Alexa Webber.

The Portland teen had made strong showings in her two previous Grand Prix competitions at the Oregon High Desert Classics, finishing fifth in 2017 and seventh last year. On Saturday at J Bar J Boys Ranch in Bend, Webber knocked off runner-up and two-time Classics champion Lindsey Gardner to win the $25,000 Grand Prix.

Webber, 18, and her horse Dauphin compete out of Oz Inc. in Canby under trainers Jeff and Shelley Campf. Dauphin is owned by Webber’s mother, Andrea Snyder.

The first week of the 30th annual Oregon High Desert Classics hunter/jumper show concludes Sunday. The second and final week runs Wednesday through July 28 and features another Grand Prix on Saturday starting at 5 p.m.
