Bend High survived a Civil War loss on Friday night to land a berth in the OSAA state football playoffs.
The Lava Bears (4-5) have the No. 27 seed and will be the No. 3 team from Special District 6 in the 32-team field for the Class 6A playoffs. They play at No. 6 Aloha this Friday in a first-round game scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
Mountain View, which finished tied with Bend and Sprague for third place in SD6 at 2-2 after its impressive 49-19 win over the Lava Bears in the regular-season finale, climbed four spots in the rankings. But at No. 35, the Cougars (4-5) are on the outside looking in.
Other Central Oregon teams earning state playoff bids are Class 5A Redmond, 3A Madras and 2A Culver. All have first-round games slated for 7 p.m. Friday.
Redmond is the No. 14 seed in the 16-team 5A bracket and is set to play at No. 3 West Albany. The Panthers (6-3), winners of three straight, are the No. 2 team from SD2-North.
Madras is the No. 12 seed in the 16-team 3A field and will play at No. 5 Rainier. The White Buffaloes (6-3) have won four in a row and are the No. 2 team from SD1-East.
Culver received the No. 10 seed and will face No. 7 Knappa at CMH field in Astoria. The Bulldogs (5-3) were part of a three-way tie for third place in SD2.
