SAN FRANCISCO — Oregon edged Colorado by three points as the selection to win the 2019-20 Pac-12 men’s basketball title in the preseason media poll.
The Ducks, reigning Pac-12 tournament champions, received nine of 27 first-place votes and 291 points. Colorado also had nine first-place votes and 288 points. It is one of the closest votes in 36 years of preseason media polling in the conference.
The poll was the first order of business on Pac-12 men’s basketball media day at the conference headquarters in San Francisco, where each team was represented by a coach and two players.
Oregon State, coming off its best Pac-12 finish since 1990, was picked to finish seventh.
Washington, last year’s Pac-12 regular-season champion, placed third with six first-place votes and 273 points. Arizona, with two first-place votes, was fourth, followed by USC in fifth with one first-place vote. Arizona State was sixth, followed by Oregon State, UCLA, Utah, Stanford, Washington State and California.
