Seattle Seahawks’ wide receiver will have knee surgery and miss the remainder of the preseason, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Sunday.
“D.K.’s got an injury to his knee that we found, it happened two days back,” Carroll told reporters after the Seahawks’ 25-19 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night. “So it’s something we’ve got to do some work on, probably Tuesday, and get him back in a hurry. We’re disappointed for him, because he was off to a fantastic start, but I don’t think this is going to derail him for long. But he does have to have some work done.”
Carroll said Metcalf will probably have the surgery on Tuesday and expressed optimism when asked if Metcalf would be available for Week 1 of the regular season.
“There’s optimism reigning about that, yeah,” Carroll told reporters after the game.
Metcalf, the Seahawks’ second-round pick (No. 64) in the 2019 NFL draft, caught one pass for eight yards in theteam’s preseason opener against the Denver Broncos.
