A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):


NFL football, San Francisco at Denver, 5 p.m. (ESPN): The final game of the preseason’s second full week is expected to feature the 2019 debut of star 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who missed almost all of last season with a torn ACL. San Francisco defeated the Dallas Cowboys in its preseason opener, while the Broncos are coming off a loss to Seattle.


Major League Baseball, New York Yankees at Los Angeles Dodgers: The teams with the best records in their respective leagues entering the week face off three times in interleague play at Chavez Ravine in a possible World Series preview. Saturday’s and Sunday’s games will be telecast nationally, Saturday at 1 p.m. (FS1) and Sunday at 4 p.m. (ESPN).


College football, Miami vs. Florida in Orlando, 4 p.m. (ESPN); Arizona at Hawaii, 7:30 p.m. (CBS Sports): The new season has arrived, and the unranked Hurricanes and No. 8 Gators kick it off in a nonconference game between regional rivals at neutral Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Later, the Wildcats of the Pac-12 are at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu to face the Rainbow Warriors.


Running, Timberjack Ultramarathon in Bend: The featured event in this true test of trail-running endurance is a 100K (with more than 6,500 feet of elevation gain) starting at 6 a.m.; a 30K follows starting at 8:30 a.m. Both races start and finish at Wanoga Sno-park. Baseball, Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, noon (ABC): The winners of the International and United States brackets will face off for the championship in the 16-team tournament. On Saturday, the International bracket final is set for 9:30 a.m., followed by the final in the United States bracket at 12:30 p.m., both games on ABC.
