Nick Hernandez combined with four relievers on a two-hit shutout, Zach Needham led the offense with a two-run homer, and the Bend Elks ended a four-game losing streak Tuesday night with a blowout win.

The 12-0 nonleague victory over Hayesville featured 15 hits for the home team, to the delight of the 2,026 in attendance at Vince Genna Stadium.

Starter Hernandez struck out four and allowed two hits and no runs over five innings to earn the win. Ryan Kaser, Joe Williams, Ricky Castro and Coen Wynne closed out the Hammers, an independent team from Salem, with one scoreless inning of relief apiece.

The Elks (3-4 overall) led 4-0 before breaking it open in the sixth inning with a five-run rally highlighted by Needham’s home run and a two-run double by Justin Parsons.
