Oregon State takes two from Nebraska — Adley Rutschman belted two home runs to help the Oregon State Beavers sweep both games of a double header with Nebraska on Friday in Surprise, Arizona. In the first game, Rutschman’s homer in the fifth helped the Beavers (6-0) to extend their lead to 4-0 en route to an 8-2 win. In the second game, Rutschman’s solo shot in the eighth broke a 3-3 tie and proved to be the game-winner in a 5-3 triumph. The Beavers have two more games against Nebraska on Saturday and Sunday.
Oregon edges St. Mary’s in pitchers’ duel — Cole Stringer pitched six strong innings in the first of a four-game series to lead Oregon past St. Mary’s 3-2 Friday at PK Park in Eugene. St. Mary’s tied the game 2-2 in the top of the ninth, but the Ducks (2-2) pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the inning when Tanner Smith’s sacrifice fly scored Jakob Goldfarb, who had three hits and Oregon’s two other RBIs.
Dail, Ducks rout Army — Jordan Dail pitched a complete-game, five-hit shutout and Cherish Burks homered to lead Oregon to a dominant victory over Army Friday in Cathedral City, California. The Ducks (9-3) jumped out to a four-run lead in the first and kept their foot on the gas, and Dail (7-0) continued her hot start to the season with eight strikeouts. Oregon faces Texas A&M and Texas Tech on Saturday.
Beavs bounce back to sweep Nevada and Pacific — Following two straight losses, Oregon State rolled past Nevada 5-1 and pounded Pacific 12-2 in Stockton, California, on Friday. Against the Wolfpack, Frankie Hammoude cracked her team-leading seventh home run of the season. In the second game, Bailey McLaughlin led a 13-hit onslaught with three hits and two RBIs. The Beavers (10-2) next play California Baptist Saturday.
