Outlaws named all-league — Sisters senior defensive lineman Brady Wessel has been voted the Sky-Em League football co-defensive player of the year, highlighting 10 Outlaws who received all-Sky-Em recognition. Wessel was also selected to the first team as an offensive guard and was joined on the first team by Sisters teammates Jake Stevens (running back), Austin Lake (tight end), Jett Mingus (inside linebacker) and Ethan Morgan (outside linebacker). Outlaws senior Jaden Condel made the second team at both offensive tackle and inside linebacker. Also named to the second team for Sisters were wide receiver Christopher Luz, defensive lineman Joel Miller and defensive backs Tyler Friend and Korbin Sharp. Morgan (punter) and Miller (offensive guard) received honorable mention.

Hawks reap MVC rewards — La Pine senior Ben Plant has been named the Mountain Valley Conference football defensive lineman of the year. Seniors Angelo Roes (quarterback, defensive back) and Wyatt DeForest (wide receiver, linebacker) were voted to the first team at two positions for the Hawks, while Plant was also selected to the second team as a running back. Also voted to the first team for La Pine were junior offensive lineman Gage Dodson, who was also a second-team defensive lineman, senior returner Chandler George, who was a second-team wideout, and senior offensive lineman Giroux Gerhart. La Pine seniors Hunter Dodson (offensive lineman) and Josiah Jenkins (defensive back) were voted to the second team, and the Hawks’ Jeremy Meeuwsen (offensive lineman) and Caleb Walker (defensive lineman) received honorable mention. La Pine’s Bo DeForest was named coach of the year after the Hawks won their first conference championship since 1999.

All-CBC football features seven Bulldogs — Senior Jorge Olivera was named to the all-Columbia Basin Conference first team as a punter and a kicker and to the second team as a defensive back while receiving honorable mention at quarterback, one of seven Culver players to land all-league honors. Bulldogs seniors Weston Basil (wide receiver, defensive back), Joe Russo (wide receiver, linebacker) and Cole Little (offensive line, defensive line) were voted to the first team at two positions, and Culver junior running back Victor Torres was also voted to the first team. Also for the Bulldogs, senior Jerron Rhen was selected to the second team as an offensive lineman and a defensive lineman, and senior offensive lineman Jonathan Figueroa received honorable mention.

Locals voted all-tournament — Bend High’s Jackson McCuldren has been named the Oregon High School Water Polo 5A/4A boys state tournament’s most valuable player and is one of three members of the state-champion Lava Bears to receive first-team recognition. Also selected to the first team for Bend were Ian Marks and Alex Moore, who are joined by Summit’s Kole Miller and Carl Bohme. The second team features Summit’s Ty Zuber, Bend’s Benjamin Dillard and Kurt Felder, and Mountain View’s Taiton Fox, Preston Carey and Noah Weedman. The Storm’s Henry Hazard Pierce received honorable mention. For the girls, Summit’s Maddie Coleman was voted to the all-tournament first team, the Storm’s Gillian Fritz was named to the second team, and Summit’s Conner Hamlin, Meghan Barrett and Morgan Hagfors received honorable mention.
