A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):


NHL hockey, Nashville at Pittsburgh, 5 p.m. (NBC): Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final pits the defending champion Penguins, featuring centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, against the Predators and defenseman P.K. Subban. While Pittsburgh returning to the Final is hardly a surprise, Nashville rose from the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference to reach the Final for the first time in franchise history.


Prep softball, Gladstone at Crook County, 4:30 p.m.: Tri-Valley Conference rivals meet in the semifinal round of the Class 4A state playoffs, the Cowgirls’ first appearance in the semis. Crook County, the TVC champion, defeated league runner-up Gladstone three times during the regular season, by scores of 4-3, 4-3 and 2-0. The winner advances to the championship game Saturday in Corvallis.


NBA basketball, Cleveland at Golden State, 6 p.m. (ABC): It’s Game 1 in an NBA Finals matchup most pro basketball followers have seen coming since last July 4, when Kevin Durant announced he was leaving Oklahoma City to join the stacked Warriors. These teams are meeting in the best-of-seven Finals for the third straight year: Golden State won in 2015, Cleveland in 2016.


Prep equestrian, Pacific Northwest Regional Invitational Championships at Redmond, 8 a.m. each day: Hundreds of qualifying high school riders from Oregon and Washington will compete over three days for top honors in 26 classes at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. Running/walking, Heaven Can Wait 5K in Bend, 9 a.m.: Billed as one of the largest annual 5K races in Central Oregon, Heaven Can Wait benefits breast cancer education, early detection and support services through the St. Charles Foundation.
