Bend’s Joey Pattee was part of the U.S. team that won a silver medal in the World Youth Fly Fishing Championships, staged last week on rivers in the Czech Republic.

Pattee, a senior at Summit High School, finished 26th out of the 48 individuals in the event. He competed in the world youth competition last year as well and has been a member of the USA Youth Fly Fishing team since 2017.

Two other Bend boys, twins Isaac and Anders Korman, are also on the 16-member U.S. team, through they did not qualify for worlds.

The three Bend anglers plan to compete in the 2019 North American Loch-Style Fly Fishing Championships Sept. 22-28 in British Columbia.

Next year’s World Youth Fly Fishing Championships are scheduled for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
