Sharon Elaine Sahonchik, 85, surrounded by her family, went peacefully into the presence of her Lord on November 3, 2017. Sharon was born in Eugene on May 31, 1932.
In her teens and early twenties, she competitively skied and collected trophies for races such as The John Craig Memorial and Donner Trail Memorial.
In her forties, she took up competitive athletics again and ran four marathons, several half marathons and competed in the Master’s Olympics. During her later years, she moved to Bend and enjoyed life in the high desert. Her favorite thing to do was walking in the forest with Pearl, her beloved black lab.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Wayne Gardner. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Al, and her three children, Andie and Brian Agee of Albany, Nick Sahonchik and Millie Thomas of Eugene, and Claudia and Robert Miller of Portland. She is also survived by her siblings, Claudette Hamilton and Jack Gardner of Eugene, and Eddie Gardner of Redmond.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Musgrove Family Mortuary, 225 S. Danebo Avenue in Eugene, followed by the burial at West Lawn Memorial Park.
