Search and rescue personnel look for the body of a 46-year-old Bend man who died Thursday in an avalanche on Black Crater in the Three Sisters Wilderness. 

The backcountry skier killed in an avalanche on Black Crater was identified Saturday by the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office as Aaron Griffith, 46, of Bend.

Well that’s unfortunate. My condolences to family and friends. I’m curious if they were using beacons and had probes etc..

A previous article reported they had all that gear. Ski partner was able to locate via beacon but too late.
