Central Oregon Gives, a project to support local organizations, launched a new campaign to raise $1 million for 90 nonprofit groups by the end of the year.

The $1 million fundraising goal builds on the project's success in previous years. Central Oregon Gives raised $500,000 in 2019 and $750,000 in 2020.

Nonprofit organizations can sign up to be a part of the campaign online at www.centraloregongives.com. The deadline to sign up is Oct. 13.

Donors who use the Central Oregon Gives website will receive perks such as a free pint of beer, cup of coffee or loaf of bread from a local business.

The nonprofit organization that raises the most money will receive an additional $15,000, according to the project. The nonprofit organization that earns the most donations under $25 will receive an additional $2,500.

Five other $2,500 prizes will be given to the top-earning organizations in five categories: education, family and children, basic needs arts and culture, animal welfare, and health and environment.
