As the result of incorrect information provided by the elections division of the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office, a story that appeared on The Bulletin’s website and in the paper’s Aug. 31 print edition, “Gov. Brown until 2027? Term limits no obstacle,” erroneously reported the number of years Kate Brown could serve as the state’s governor. Assuming Brown runs in 2018 and wins, she would not be able to run again in 2022, according to a clarifying press release issued by the Secretary of State’s Office Thursday afternoon. The press release provided a link to a 2015 legal opinion on the subject from the state attorney general’s office.

The Bulletin regrets the error.
