Bulletin staff report

The Milli Fire, burning west of Sisters, is roughly 60 percent contained, and fire activity remains minimal, according to an update from the Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center. The fire may grow slightly beyond its current 24,079 acres, expanding to the west in the Three Sisters Wilderness. The fire also may expend to the southwest in the Pole Creek Burn area. However, this growth will end when it reaches lava flows and runs out of fuel, according the dispatch center. Pockets of fuel within the perimeter of the fire, meanwhile, will continue to ignite and produce smoke until a “season ending event” extinguishes the fire.

The Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center will release no further updates until Sept. 15.
