Fair season is underway in Central Oregon.
The Jefferson County Fair & Rodeo began Wednesday and will continue 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day through Saturday at the fairgrounds in Madras.
The fair kicked off Wednesday with 4H and FFA exhibits, a carnival with new rides and fair food and vendors. Live music is scheduled Friday and Saturday at the Indian Head Pavilion. The band Countrified will perform at 9 p.m. Friday and the band Toast and Jam will play 9 p.m. Saturday.
Next week, the Deschutes County Fair & Rodeo will be held 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Aug. 1 at the fairgrounds in Redmond. The 101st fair in Deschutes County will feature new entertainment such as a hypnotist, a sword swallower and live sharks in a tank.
The fair’s summer concert series will be held outside, rather than inside the First Interstate Bank Center. The concerts will be held each night Wednesday through July 31 near the entrance to the rodeo.
The Crook County Fair will be held Aug. 4 to Aug. 7 at the fairgrounds in Prineville. The fair will start at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, and close at 10 a.m. The following days, the fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
