A former La Pine High cheerleading coach has pleaded guilty to one count each of second-degree sexual abuse and furnishing alcohol to a minor and is serving a 10-day jail sentence.
Nicole Mickelson, 31, was arrested on April 18 and charged with contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor, two counts each of second- and third-degree sexual abuse and four counts of furnishing liquor to a minor. At the time, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Lt. Deron McMaster said a staff member at La Pine High had contacted the Sheriff’s Office about rumors that Mickelson was involved with a 17-year-old male student.
Mickelson pleaded guilty and last week was sentenced to 10 days in jail and 36 months of supervised probation.
She must complete sex offender treatment, register as a sex offender, complete treatment for both mental health and alcohol and controlled substance abuse.
During probation she cannot drink alcohol, have any controlled substances or go to bars or liquor stores. She also cannot have any contact with the victim. According to the Deschutes County jail website, she is expected to be released today.
