Bend residents interested in reducing the amount of garbage they produce can get practical tips from zero-waste guru Bea Johnson, who will give a lecture on the subject in Bend on Sept. 27.
Johnson has turned the concept of reducing waste into a science. Through bulk shopping and other self-sustaining practices, she and her family of four produce just one pint of garbage per year.
The zero-waste expert will offer practical tips on how to reduce the amount of trash produced in the typical household and discuss her experience in going waste-free for over a decade.
The event will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Bend Senior Center, 1600 SE Reed Market Rd. Tickets can be reserved online at envirocenter.org/bea. Admission is on a sliding scale and donation basis.
