The Oregon State University Board of Trustees Friday approved the construction of a second academic building on Oregon State University-Cascades’ campus.

The second academic building’s $50.2 million price tag will be funded with $10 million from philanthropic gifts, $39 million in state bond funds and $1.2 million collected from student fees, according to an OSU press release. The building, which has already been designed, will be a 50,000-square-foot structure mainly used for science, engineering and arts classes.

The second academic building, which is expected to be complete by the fall of 2021, is the centerpiece of an ambitious expansion plan at OSU-Cascades, which began in July.
