Bend-La Pine Schools will host job fairs on Aug. 6 and 7 as the school district seeks to hire support staff including bus drivers, secretaries and lunchroom staff.
At the Aug. 6 event, held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the La Pine Transportation Department at 16350 First St., those attending will get a free barbecue meal, according to a school district press release. People can test-drive a school bus and learn more about becoming a bus driver at the event.
A second job fair will be at Bend High School from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7. There will also be an opportunity to test-drive a bus, and attendees can tour the school district’s production kitchen and learn about other career opportunities.
Bend-La Pine is looking to hire seven types of support staff, from regular and substitute bus drivers and monitors to part-time secretaries. Starting hourly wages range from $13.07 to $17.09. A full list of potential careers can be found at the school district’s website.
