High school notes

• Collin Hester has been hired as college readiness coordinator at Crook County High School. He earned a master’s degree in counseling from Oregon State University-Cascades after serving in the U.S. Coast Guard for 10 years.

• Baily Michel, a senior at Crook County High School, has been selected for the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens award. She was selected by her teachers and peers for demonstrating the community-minded qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.

Military notes

• The following students are among the cadet graduates of the Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program: Bradley Beardsley of Prineville, Itzel Garcia Medina of Bend, Sesar Ogden of Redmond, Joseph Smith of Bend and Andrew Turner of Redmond and Garyson Johnson of Warm Springs. OYCP is a statewide, accredited alternative high school offered and operated by the Oregon Military Department.
