• Biola University, in Mirada, California, has named seven local students to the university’s dean’s list for academic excellence. These students achieved a grade point average of 3.60 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credit units and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20: McKenna Boen, Jonathan Schaumloeffel, Aliza Schloesser and Whitney Siefken, all of Bend; Caroline Buchanan, of Prineville; Hunter Clark, of Redmond; and Tyrell Gilmore, of Sisters.
• Oregon State University–Cascades is serving a total of 1,204 students, according to its official annual fall enrollment report. This represents a 7 percent increase over the previous year. Nearly a third of the total undergraduate student body are the first in their families to attend college.

• Redmond High School’s boys cross-country team recently earned first place honors for the Oregon School Activities Association Academic All-State Award due to their combined grade point average of 4.0.
