Navy Airman Jake Kelly has graduated from basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, North Chicago, Ill. He is a 2013 graduate of Redmond High School, and the son of Jamie Kelly, of Redmond, and Jake Johnson, of Ramona, Calif.

TEEN Feats

Dustin Henderson , of Madras, won a Learning Ally National Achievement Award. Learning Ally is a “nonprofit serving individuals with learning and visual disabilities,” according to a press release from the organization. Henderson, who has dyslexia, will receive $6,000 in addition to free travel with his family to the Learning Ally’s National Gala celebration in Washington, D.C., in April to accept the award. He is currently a freshman at Oregon Institute of Technology, where he is studying mathematics.
