The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an older male who is believed to have struck a bicyclist with a trailer he was towing, and then left the scene.

Deputies responded to S. Canal Boulevard north of 61st Street in Redmond at about 3 p.m. Tuesday to find Bend resident Robert Thomas, the 75-year-old cyclist who had been struck and injured, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

According to the release, a white dually pickup truck towing a white utility trailer was traveling south on Canal when the driver side-swiped Thomas with the trailer. The driver drove from the scene without stopping.

Thomas was transported to St. Charles Redmond for injuries that were not life threatening.

Deputies searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him. Anyone with information is asked to call to call 541-693-6911.
