A motorcyclist from Bend died Saturday morning in a single vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 20 west of Sisters.

Preliminary investigation revealed that around 9:10 a.m., a Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Richard Alan Cissna, 65, was heading west when he attempted to avoid traffic that had slowed, lost control and crashed, according to a statement by Oregon State Police.

Cissna sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cissna worked as a pressman for The Bulletin from November 2014 to December 2019, according to Ginger Wing, human resources director for EO Media Group, which owns the newspaper.
