An educational assistant at Jefferson County Middle School was arrested Friday for allegedly coercing a middle school student into various sexual acts.
Kristin Elaine Stickler, 25, of Madras, was also an assistant track coach at the school, and allegedly forced a child younger than 14, whom she coached, into sexual contact, according to court documents.
Stickler was indicted Thursday by a Jefferson County grand jury. She is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on $250,000 bond.
Court documents state that between Jan. 1 and April 6, Stickler allegedly contacted the child online, asking him to engage sexually. She is alleged to have touched the child’s penis, forced the child to touch her vaginal area and her breast and engaged in oral sex with the child. Stickler is also accused of having the child in an area where illegal activity involving drugs occurred.
Stickler is charged with one count of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child, four counts of first-degree sexual abuse, four counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of second-degree sodomy, all felonies. She is also charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a minor, a misdemeanor. The charges could lead to up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, according to Jefferson County District Attorney Steven Leriche.
Jefferson County School District placed Stickler on administrative leave April 22 when the school officials heard about the allegations, according to Superintendent, Ken Parshall. The district banned her from any interaction with students and reported the allegations to law enforcement at that time, Parshall said. Stickler had worked at the middle school since October 2017.
“We’re disappointed any time there’s allegations of misconduct from our employees; it’s heartbreaking,” Parshall said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Madras Police Department are investigating.
Stickler was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with more information about the allegations against Stickler to call 541-475-2201.
