The Central Oregon Perinatal Care Team — operated by Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties’ health departments — is hosting a series of community baby shower events throughout Central Oregon on Oct. 18-19 with the goal of connecting new and expecting parents to resources and information.
Attendees will not only get free gift bags and maternity and newborn photos when they arrive at one of the five events, but parents will also get information about local public health resources, including maternal mental health and family support programs, according to a press release from the counties’ health departments. Attendees can also sign up for the Oregon Health Plan, which provides health coverage for people with low incomes.
On Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., events will take place at the La Pine Park and Recreation building, the Crook County Fairgrounds in Prineville and the Museum at Warm Springs. Two more baby showers will be held on Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Deschutes Fair & Expo Center in Redmond and the Madras Performing Arts Center.
