Bulletin Staff Report

The city of Bend plans to reduce speed limits on several sections of road in Bend this month because of changing traffic and development.

The speed limit on O.B. Riley Road between Cooley and Hardy roads will decrease from 45 mph to 40 mph. Boyd Acres Road between Butler Market Road and Morningstar Drive will have a new speed limit of 35 mph, instead of the current 40 mph.

American Lane between Reed Market and Brosterhaus roads, which does not have a posted speed limit, will have a 35 mph limit.

New speed limit signs will be topped by orange warning flags for several weeks to draw attention to changes.

Oregon’s basic speed law requires driving at a speed safe for conditions, which may be lower than the posted speed limit.
