Applications to fill a soon-to-be-vacant seat on the Bend City Council are now open.
Current Bend Mayor Pro Tem Sally Russell won the city’s mayoral election in November, meaning the City Council will need to appoint someone to fill the remainder of her two-year council term. While the seat won’t be open until Jan. 2, the city began accepting applications Thursday.
Council hopefuls need to complete an online application, found under the council vacancy tab at https://www.bendoregon.gov/city-council, and submit a letter of interest. Applications are due Jan. 4.
Councilors plan to interview top applicants Jan. 14 and make an appointment Jan. 16.
