A 21-year-old man was arrested Thursday evening shortly after trying to rob a Bend convenience store with a knife.

Nathaniel McLain demanded cash from employees of a 7-Eleven store on NE Greenwood Avenue in Bend shortly before 6 p.m., according to a Bend Police Department press release. McLain ran from the store without receiving any money and was captured by police within minutes at NE 10th Street and NE Norton Avenue. A police dog soon recovered the knife.

McLain was taken to the Deschutes County Jail and charged with robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing.
