A 76-year-old Redmond woman was killed in a collision with an Oregon Department of Transportation vehicle Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 97 at 61st Street, Oregon State Police said.
Linda Dent was driving south on Highway 97 in a 2017 Subaru Legacy about 11:45 a.m. when she veered across the highway into the slow lane of northbound traffic and into the path of a 2018 Ram 3500 — an ODOT incident response vehicle — being driven by John Benson, 38, of Redmond, state police said.
Dent died at the scene of the crash.
State police say they don’t know why Dent crossed over into oncoming traffic.
Benson was taken to St. Charles Bend with minor injuries.
