A Grants Pass man is charged with murder after his family members were found killed and injured, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Friday, Kristie Hodges, 40, called 911 to report a shooting at her home in the 7000 block of Rogue River Highway. As she was on the phone, the dispatchers heard gunshots in the background and then the call disconnected.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office went inside and found Richard Carlton Rudolph, 64, who is Hodges’ father. He was dead from apparent gunshot and stab wounds.
Hodges, who placed the call, had also been shot several times, according to police. Her 16-year-old daughter had extensive blunt and sharp force injuries, according to police.
Both were taken to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center. Both were stable as of Saturday.
The deputies were told the attacker was David Hodges, 57, the husband to Kristie Hodges and stepfather to her daughter. Deputies with the sheriff’s office and SWAT searched until 2 a.m., when they say they found David Hodges hiding under a treeway across Rogue River Highway. He was bitten by a police dog during the arrest.
