Bulletin Staff Report

High temperatures in Central Oregon are expected to drop 20 degrees Sunday as a weather system brings thunderstorms and rain to the region.

Sunday night through Monday, Bend could see at least a half inch of rain, according to Jim Smith, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

The cloudy weather will drop the high temperature from 80 degrees on Saturday to 59 degrees on Monday, Smith said.

High temperatures will remain in the low 60s until Wednesday, when the temperature warms slightly to the high 60s. Low temperatures will range from the high 40s to low 50s.

Even when the cool weather system passes next weekend, Smith said, not to expect a return to summer weather. High temperatures should remain throughout September in the mid-70s, which is average for this time of year, Smith said.

“Nothing summer-like,” he said.
