A Redmond man who was reported missing Sunday was found dead of an apparent suicide Monday in the Cline Buttes area.

At 9:40 a.m. on Monday, search and rescue volunteers found Chad Hurtley dead on the western side of one of the Cline Buttes, about three-quarters of the way up, said Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Bryan Husband. Details regarding the suicide were not released.

Hurtley, 49, left his home, located near Cline Falls Road, on horseback around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office press release. About 4:45 p.m., sheriff’s deputies received a report that a horse was found on Cline Falls Road, without Hurtley.

Deputies, search and rescue volunteers and a LifeFlight helicopter searched the Cline Buttes area through Sunday night, along with Hurtley’s friends and family, but could not find him, the release stated. Hurtley was found after the search continued Monday.
