A fire northeast of McKay Butte in the Deschutes National Forest grew to 190 acres Monday.
The McKay Butte Fire, south of Forest Road 9735, was reported around 3 p.m. Sunday by the Lava Butte lookout and grew quickly to 15 acres, according to the Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center. Firefighters saw active fire behavior through the night on the McKay Butte Fire, with winds pushing the fire to the southeast. Crews worked to create a perimeter around the fire Sunday night and created a fire line Monday. It was about 10% contained Monday night.
A Level 1 (be ready) evacuation notice was issued for the McKay Crossing, Ogden and Prairie campgrounds in the Deschutes National Forest.
Two additional fires, one near Black Butte and the other west of La Pine off Burgess Road, were contained at under an acre.
The fires are under investigation.
