Construction flagger killed in accident — Oregon State Police say a road construction flagger was killed on Highway 140 in Klamath County when a motorist struck him in a highway construction zone. Daniel Wessel, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday evening. A preliminary investigation shows that Zahara Gonzales, 38, of Klamath Falls, was driving on the highway when she entered the construction zone and struck Wessel. The accident is under investigation.

Hiker rescued from Pacific Crest Trail — Authorities say Colton Cosby, 23, lost for days in deep snow on the Pacific Crest Trail near Eugene, has been rescued. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a distress signal at 12:30 p.m. Monday on Mount Thielsen. Search crews located Cosby, of Roseburg, late Monday afternoon. He had been hiking the past three days and became lost in the snow on the trail.
