The American Stroke Association gave St. Charles Bend an award recognizing its high-quality care of stroke patients, the hospital announced Wednesday.

St. Charles earned the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award by meeting certain requirements for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients over a period of time, according to a St. Charles press release. This means hospital staff used medication appropriately and stayed in line with evidence-based paths to help stroke patients recover quickly and reduce the risk of death and disability.

The American Stroke Association is a division of the American Heart Association, a nonprofit focused on cardiovascular disease and health.
