Deschutes County Parole and Probation is searching for a convicted sex offender who cut off his GPS bracelet at 8 p.m. Thursday near the River Woods County Store south of Bend.
David Dale Cook, 37, Bend, reportedly left the area in a vehicle and traveled north. Deputies spent Thursday night overnight searching for him.
Cook was released from prison in August 2017 and has been on post-prison supervision. He recently violated the terms of his parole and spent time in jail until being released Thursday, according to the county parole and probation officials.
Cook was originally sentenced to 100 months in prison for two counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree sodomy.
People who see Cook or have information about where he is are asked to call 911.
