The Redmond Airport will remain closed until 9 a.m. Wednesday due to damage from the winter storm, according to airport officials.
The historic snowfall Monday damaged the airport’s navigational aid system that allows pilots to land aircraft in severe weather conditions. The current winter storm requires airplanes use the Instrument Landing System, which is operated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA plans to have the navigational system working again by 9 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting.
There are currently no arriving or departing flights at Redmond Airport. Passengers are encouraged to contact their airline directly for flight information.
The airport’s website, www.flyrdm.com, provides direct links to airlines providing service to the airport as well as flight status information.
