Crook County Sheriff’s deputies found three people dead Thursday afternoon inside a rural home southeast of Prineville in an apparent shooting, according to a press release from Sheriff John Gautney.
Deputies arrived at the house on SE Umatilla Loop just after 12 p.m. after receiving a report of a deceased person, but found three dead people, Gautney stated. The Central Oregon Major Incident Team and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab were called to investigate the scene, and they stayed until early morning Friday.
Deputies believe there are no suspects in the shooting besides the three deceased people, and everyone involved was inside the home, Gautney stated.
According to the release, the investigation is ongoing.
Crook County District Attorney Wade Whiting has ordered an autopsy to identify the three victims before names can be released. The names might be released by early next week, Gautney stated.
Whiting told The Bulletin additional information will be released once autopsies have been completed in all three cases.
“I’ve been in contact with the State Medical Examiners Office and the latest they would be performed is Monday,” Whiting said.
