A Bend man was arrested on suspicion of menacing and disorderly conduct after allegedly causing a scene in traffic in north Bend and throwing a knife near police.

At around 9 a.m. Monday, a person reported that a man in a bathrobe with a knife was at the intersection of NE Butler Market Road and NE Wells Acres Road pretending to throw the knife at passing vehicles.

When Bend Police officers located Gabriel Richards, 28, at the entrance of Burning Tree Village on NE Wells Acres Road he was reportedly “uncooperative” and threw the knife in the direction of police, according to a release by Bend Police.

Officers negotiated Richards into custody and took him to St. Charles Bend for evaluation. He has not yet been charged in the incident.
