A Bend man was arrested by Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies Thursday night on suspicion of drugging and sexually assaulting two women.
Two women told the sheriff’s office Tuesday that Eric Bill Jonsson, 54, drugged and assaulted them, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. During an investigation, deputies found that one of the women met Jonsson through Craigslist, responding to Jonsson’s ad about a room for rent, the release stated.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for Jonsson’s home in the 19000 block of Klippel Road in Bend, and at 10:31 p.m. Thursday, members of the sheriff’s office SWAT team arrived at his house.
The SWAT team tried for more than 30 minutes to get Jonsson to leave his home, but he did not, according to the release. The SWAT team used two flash diversionary devices, which caused loud banging noises, then broke into the home and took Jonsson into custody, according to the release.
Jonsson was arrested and booked into the Deschutes County jail on suspicion of first-degree rape, causing another person to ingest controlled substances, delivery of a schedule IV controlled substance, and two counts of each of first-degree sex abuse and unlawful sexual penetration. Investigation of the case is ongoing. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information or similar contacts with Jonsson to contact Sheriff’s Office Detective Doug Jackson at 541-617-3352.
